I wanted to introduce myself encase you have a child who is Deaf/Hard-of-hearing. I graduated from Lenoir Rhyne College in 2002 with B.A's in K-12 Hearing Impaired Education as well as K-6 Elementary Education. After my 1st year of teaching I decided there was a lot more I needed to learn so I attended Appalachian State University to obtain my M.Ed in the area's of K-12 Emotional Disabilities, K-12 Learning Disabilities, as well as K-12 Intellectual Disabilities. My philosophy for teaching students with hearing impairments is that I will use whatever mode to communicate is most effective for individual students. I am trained in Total Communication (Using Sign Language/Spoken Language in conjunction), Oral Therapy, as well as Auditory Verbal Therapy (Not a certified AV therapist but years of experience and training with CASTLE). I am going into my 15th year of teaching and still waking up every morning looking forward to working with your children.
