PBIS affects every student and staff member at West Yadkin. We use our SOAR Matrix to define the behavioral expectations of our students in locations throughout the campus.
We also use Eagle Bucks and Eagle Tokens as incentives around our campus. Eagle Bucks are earned by the entire class. Eagle Tokens are used as individual incentives. Classes total their Eagle Bucks to win classroom reward events. 4 Eagle Tokens equal 1 Eagle Buck and contribute to the classroom event.
Our staff use PBIS Infraction Documentation and Class Dojo to track student behavior and to help modify for students needing more assistance. Students that are having behavioral difficulty can be recommended for Check In-Check Out, mentoring, or focus groups. All of these programs begin in September of each year and parent notification for student participation will be sent home.
Each quarter, students that meet the behavioral goals for the school are rewarded with a PBIS Reward. These quarterly events can involve rewards like movie and popcorn events, extra recess, special presentations, special snacks, or field trips. The goal requirement for attendance is based on the Class Dojo positive percentages. For example, for the 1st quarter students must have 75% or higher positive percentage.
