West Yadkin Elementary School is an outstanding community of learners. We are a Pre-K-5 school with over 450 students. The faculty includes classroom teachers as well as teachers of art, music, physical education, library, special education, mental health professionals, and numerous assistant teachers who are all committed to providing a challenging, supportive and exciting educational experience to all children.
As a learning community, we strive to SOAR daily. As with all Yadkin County elementary schools, we believe in educating the whole child and providing a program that includes social-emotional learning as well as Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies curricula. We use district benchmarks and assessments to guide our instruction. In addition to whole-class instruction, students work in pairs, small groups, or individually to complete assigned tasks. Technology is increasingly being integrated into lessons to enhance understanding and make information accessible.
